| It is the mission of the GCETN to unify the Gold Coasts education and training industry and manage the advantages of group strength to support, promote and grow the region's industry in a global environment.
The objectives of the GCETN to 2011 are:
- Increase the size of the education and training industry on the Gold Coast to an annual expenditure of $1,200 million within ten years from the present $550 million
- Provide 1000 more high-value jobs in the education and training industry each year for the next ten years taking total full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs to 20,000 from the present 9,500
- Increase export income from overseas students from the present $35 million per year to $200 million within ten years
- Increase the economic growth of the Gold Coast region through direct and flow-on effects of 12,000 FTE overseas students within ten years from the present 5,600.
